Position:

The assistant golf course superintendent reports directly to the golf course superintendent.

Wanakah Country Club is a private club located approximately 10 miles west of Buffalo New York.  It has a membership of 290 golfing members and has made a commitment to remain one of the top clubs in the Buffalo New York area.

Primary grasses:                                                                              

    Greens- Creeping bentgrass and Poa annua

    Tees- Creeping bentgrass and Poa annua

    Fairways- Creeping bentgrass and Poa annua

Education:  A two or four year turf management degree required.

Experience:  Minimum three years of work experience in golf course management required.  Involved using necessary equipment to build tees, bunkers as well as shape and grade small areas on the course.

Candidate should possess a strong work ethic and have an eye for detail.

Candidate should be self motivated, organized and have excellent communication  and leadership skills.  A good attitude is very important.

Responsibility:  Successful candidate will be responsible for management of day to day operations, chemical and fertilizer applications.  Candidate will help trouble shoot irrigation and handle repair problems.

Special skills:  Team work and dedication required.  Must have a valid New York driver’s license with in three months of employment.  Must have or work towards a New York Pesticide license with in one year of employment.

Salary:  $40,000 - $40,000                                              Housing:  Applicant is responsible
