Golf Course Superintendent

Job Description

 

Position Objective

To manage all aspects of the Double Black Diamond Golf Course at Holiday Valley within the guidelines set to maintain the best possible quality.

 

Reporting Relationship

Reports:                            Director of Summer Operations

Supervises:                       Golf Course Maintenance Staff

Works Closely with:           Director of Mountain Operations

 

Major Responsibilities

·           Maintain the course at a high standard and advance course conditions yearly.

·           Strong coaching talents with ability to teach and train staff and promote attention to detail.

·           Promote a safe environment for the staff and guests.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·           Self-motivation and a positive attitude about Holiday Valley, its programs, policies and associates.

·         Strong knowledge and skills of golf course maintenance and operations. 

·         Involvement in necessary membership associations.

·           Winter responsibilities may vary depending on the incumbent  and mutual agreement with Director of Summer Operations

 

Other Responsibilities

·         Ability to create annual budgets and accurate accounting.

·           Monitor trends and opportunities in all aspects of golf course operation and maintenance

·           Strong leadership attributes and common sense.

·           Pick up trash

 

Education Requirements

·           Two year Turf Certificate or Four year degree in Turf Management or equivalent experience

·           8 years experience in golf course maintenance or 4 years in golf course management

 

 

Qualifications

  • Agronomic background with experience managing Bentgrass/Poa Aunna greens.
  • Irrigation programming and trouble shooting.  Rainbird Sprinkler System knowledge helpful.
  • Must have excellent work ethic and the desire to commit as much time as necessary to produce great playing conditions.
  • Accurate and complete record keeping
  • Ability to create annual budgets and stay within those guidelines
  • Good communication skills
  • Possess eye for details with the ability to maintain the course at a high standard
  • Be capable of prioritizing and problem solving quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong knowledge of pesticides and licensed in their application.  Required to maintain mandated records of application

 

Compensation

  • Based on experience and qualifications

 

Benefits       

  • Health insurance, dental insurance, profit sharing, 401K, family privileges and paid vacation after 1 year.  All benefits depend on meeting company criteria.
